We host a number of basketball programs for both adults and kids at North Melbourne Recreation Centre.

Social basketball

Melbhoops offer fun, inclusive and supportive social basketball sessions that everyone can enjoy – no matter your age, gender, skill level or background.

So whether you're a seasoned player or just getting started, come along to stay active, make new friends and hit your fitness goals with a smile. Because basketball is better when we play together!

Day and time

  • Every Sunday afternoon, 1:00pm to 3:00pm

What to bring

  • Bring your water bottle, jersey, basketball shoes, towel, and your enthusiasm! 

Price

  • $12.00 for a two-hour session

Private basketball training

Tomorrow's Stars Basketball offer private basketball training for aspiring basketball players.

Trusted by 50,000 basketball players Australia-wide, they have been at the forefront of developing and nurturing basketball talent for over a quarter of a century.

Whether you’re a beginner or advanced player, their expert coach will help you develop your knowledge and skills.

Day and time

  • Saturdays, between 11:30am and 5:30pm

Junior basketball

Looking for a fun way to get your child or teen into basketball?

The Kensington Flemington Junior Basketball Club, also known as Kensington Colts, trains at North Melbourne Recreation Centre and welcomes junior players at all levels.

With junior basketball teams ranging from Under 8s to Under 18s, Kensington Colts encourages players to develop their skills through training and competitions, foster teamwork and have fun.

Training days and times

  • Mondays, 4:30pm – 6:30pm 
  • Wednesdays, 5:45pm – 6:30pm 
  • Thursdays, 4:30pm – 6:30pm

Basketball competitions

Basketball613 offers fun, competitive and inclusive basketball competitions. Their Crusaders League runs at our centre and is open to adults 18+ of all genders and skill levels, whether you're a beginner getting active or a serious baller chasing trophies!

Session times

  • Monday evenings: Social League
  • Tuesday evenings: Intermediate/Advanced Men's League
  • Thursday evenings: Social League

What to bring

  • A light/dark jersey or reversible top, water bottle and a good attitude!
  • Basketballs and referees are provided

Prices

  • $128.80 team registration fee (once per season)
  • $87.00 per game, per team
  • Fill-in players welcome (just let Basketball613 know in advance)

How to join

You can join via the Basketball 613 website by registering as a team or joining as an individual, then selecting your competition.
